Hi there,
I am so sorry to trouble you all. I have tried installing iAtkos on the abovementioned PC at least 50 times but have not been successful at any rate. It seems like the most successful I've been to is actually the famous "waiting for root device" prompt. The specifications for my PC are listed here: SR1960AP Specs But just a summary: Processor: Pentium D 925 (P) DC 3.0 Ghz - Socket 775 Chipset: ATI Radeon Xpress 200 for Intel Processors Motherboard: Manufacturer-ECS, Name-RC410-M, HP-Name-Alhena-GL6 Video: nVidia 8600 GT 256MB Memory: 1GB DDR2 SDRAM Harddisk: 160GB SATA I've got a niggling feeling that the issues actually lie with the customization as my research seems to show that my specs do fit the requirements for iAtkos installation. I am also unable to choose AHCI for the SATA controller in BIOS as there is no option for it at all. Does anyone have experience installing the above and have the correct customization settings please? Would appreciate any help pointing me down the right direction as well. Thanks! Turned out the problem was with the motherboard. ECS Alhena is NOT supported at all by iAtkos 5i. Installed iAtkos 5i without ANY issues. Everything works on the fly, sound, ethernet, everything. Only issue was with my DWL-G122 which I just had to install the ralink driver, reboot and viola. Thanks so much for helping icchssan! Last edited by fi5hbone; 03-28-2009 at 04:17 PM. |

Looks nice, I dont think you have AHCI on your BIOS, anyway if you wanna try iAtkos check the official site of the distro to know the basic, then try again, for this system you will need a patched kernel like voodoo or speedstep, for everything else check the site, also try to know everything you can about your own hardware, that way you wont have any problem, good luck

I reckon it means that I should select the Intel SATA without the AHCI? Does the ATI chipset interfere with anything?
Btw, is the website for the Distro this? iATKOS OSx86 Project: Welcome to iATKOS 5i OSx86 10.5.5 / 10.5.6 |

Okay so I've decided to change the Mobo and processor at the same time. Thinking of getting the one you recommended icchansan!
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2 Processor: Core 2 Duo E2200 Video: Nvidia 7300 GS, 8600 GT Memory: 2GB RAM DDR2 Hard Drive: 1x300GB 7200 rpm Power Supply 350/450w Would the above work smoothly with iAtkos? |
