THERE IS a 2.2.1 UNLOCK from i-SMARTPHONE!!!!!!!
I have personally tested it in the UK, may be one of the first to do so.

I am an honest person, and I want nothing but to benefit this community.
the 2.2.1 Sim Unlock is VERY UNSTABLE, no stable solution exists in the world at this moment.

Phone/call/text functions works, Data does not work
you WILL LIKELY lose signal if you move from one cell tower to another
-works if you updated to 2.2.1 via iTunes (NEW BASEBAND UNLOCKED)
-IF YOU LOSE SIGNAL, you must RESET NETWORK KEYS by taking SIM out of iPHONE and putting it in another cellphone to regain signal before putting back into your iPhone.
