Hey Am321can, I'm having the exact same problem and need to figure this thing out. If you know any more info on getting this machine running again please let me know. I'd call psystar but they're closed on weekends. BLah.

Hi Spiderhead.

I have at last attained greater self-chi than He Who Must Not Be Named (Psystar, whom shall hence forth be known as Psyjunk).

Anywho

The story according to Cal:
After days and weeks of trouble shooting with just the MAC OS X disk the tech at psystar said, "well you need a restore disk first" i was like are u effing kidding me! all this time and you never mentioned the restore disk. wow so they said they'd send one out, naturally i called a week later wondering where my disk was since it's my business to mail disks and i know if i mail a disk out on friday (california) it'll be there by wednesday (new york) at the latest. Naturally they mailed my disk out only after i called a week later to see if it had been mailed. I was leaving for a trip so i called my computer geek friend AM321CAN (American, with numbers pronounced as letters, i'm not geek enough to get it yet) in to take another stab at this awful mess. Loaning him the keys to my house for a month + the promise of dinner at the restaurant of his choosing when i returned + free editing on the machine anytime if he could get it back up and running.

According to AM321CAN:
Yup, big dork here, not really a hacker, but definitely know what a rar file is, and how to mount a disk without burning it, or extract an iso, Cal here is the last person in the world who should ever have even considered buying a Psystar, but they're so cheap i'm sure he's not the only non-hacker type who went out and got one since, most hackint0shers are fully capable of the whole DIY bit, which i tend to enjoy.

Cal and I were working a sound project titled "A Very Sound Project" or "Everday Normal Guy" (but Jon Lajoie beat us to it). We shot a film on a RED Scarlet, a $27k camera with no sound at all. Our intentions were to do all the foley work on our own. Luckily, Cal's Psyjunk computer crashed before we began editing. Well that's not totally true, cause it didn't crash it just died. His computer shipped with a 450w psu, when the graphics card in there requires a 600w psu, bizarre, but psyjunk is a strange company. Cal Shipped this sucker back (shipping cost $50) they charged cal $150 for new PSU when it was there effing fault it died in the first place, + $50 dollars to ship it back. So Cal's out $250, But he shipped it out on a March 1st and didn't get it back until April 27th. Of course i was pissed because he told me all this after the fact and i was like duuuuuuuude wtf, i coulda gone to staples and bought you a new psu and installed it for free cause your my boy, but no he figured it was under warranty and it was there product so he was blown away when they charged the credit card he bought the computer with 9 months ago for the $150 dollars. There was no warning, or call, or anything. Just cha-ching charge his card and then be like what that's what you asked us to do?

part 2 soon

AM321CAN's Rant Part 2:
I called to get help yesterday with my new "restore disk." Their response what is your help number, #### verify your billing address, i give them my address, That's incorrect sir, we can't help you at this time. OMFG i want to wipe psyjunk off the face of the planet, almost as much as Apple does i guess, google news search "psystar" lol.

Today i opened up the computer and undid some plugs and duct taped some plugs and put things where they don't belong. When psyjunk hooked up the new psu, they kindly "forgot to plug all the fans in, namely the psu fan, the hard drive fan, and the top case mounted fan. Gee thanks psyjunk! you guys are so grand (use of phony word intended)

I stuck the restore disk in the drive for the umpteenth time, got to the please insert osx dvd screen and held down f8 and enter, i briefly saw a message about some bad sectors and junk and the sunovabitch booted into OS X INSTALL!!! NO EFFING WAY WOOHOOO IT WORKS (well maybe). I formatted the disk in the non-case-sensistive mode and about 20 minutes later it said Finished installing, computer failed to reboot, check the installation and try again, so i googled that for like 20 minutes and didn't find shite so i restarted and the sunovabitch booted into OS X with all the happy bells and whistles offering me MyApple, iCrapolaidontneed, and more. YES! i'm in i thought. I restarted the computer one more time just to be sure .

And tadaa it is working OMG!! woohoo. I pretty much switched around which drive was plugged into which sata slot in the system and it effing turned on. pretty frikin amazing if u ask me.

Of course i saw a window saying do you want to install new updates and hit the "No Effing Way" button because now i'm worried lol! I'll let you know how that goes soon

I will return to this site to continue to share with everyone on this issue. Please wait me.
