It seems that AT&T Mobility Chief (
Darth De La Vega) Ralph De La Vega announced that they will be supporting tethering for the iPhone "soon" at the Web 2.0 Summit. No official word yet if it will be coming to iPhone 2g or not.(Cross Fingers).*
And if you have been living under a rock since the turn of the century,Tethering is the process of using your cell phones built-in modem on your laptop's Modem, making your computer truely "wireless"(At very slow Speeds). But Most people don't care,as long as they have something in a full screen browser.
No "official" pricing point was announced at the summit, but AT&T has been charging $30 (
read:rip-off) for the plan on their other smartphones and Razor series. And also no "Official" date was mentioned, but Mac Rumors is hearing that it may be included in the 2.2 firmware update, which is also coming "soon"
But Then Again if you have a Macbook with an iPhone you could have done this..last year..for free, with an App called "TinyProxy" With a Jailbroken iPhone.
