Question 2.2.1 bb 2.30.03 Activated only

Hi all,

First off my iphone ver2.2.1 bb2.30.03 bootloader 6.02. I have read many post and i am fully aware that this iphone cannot be unlocked. I just want to jailbreak it and use a turbosim. I do not have legit contract and sim. My iphone locked to softbank japan.

My problem:

CAn anyone provide me a link or the file for Activated only firmware 2.2.1 with bb 2.30.03?

I do not want it to be jailbroken and i do not want it to be unlocked(not possible to unlock anyway).

The reason is that i have been running into problems when i jailbreak my iphone using quickpwn 2.2.5-2. this is what i did:

1. restored latest firmware with itunes and i get the slide to unlock screen. (I can't activate as i am not on legit sim)

2. ran quickpwn and jailbreak the iphone. Thats it.(It all seems good- wifi working, app store etc.)

Problems:

1. Under settings, carrier shows (null)(null).

i heard it should show carrier 2.9 or something like that right?
If not when using turbosim or original sim, no network would be detected.

I am sure this is an issue as i have read on another dated post not from this forum. The solution as indicated on that post is to legitly activate the iphone through itunes and do a partial resync before jailbreaking it.

Can anyone please confirm this fix is true or is there another method to solve this problem?

I am thinking of trying to use a activated only firmware and resync the phone before jailbreaking it hence the search for the firmware stated.

2. Itunes is not working. It says it is not supported in the country. (should not be so as i have seen others using itunes in the country) Could this be due to activation issues as well?

Well. thats all the problems i found so far. If anyone can help me create the firmware as stated, that would be so helpful for me to try and fix the carrier issue at least.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to any help and advise.

Cheers.

I doubt that your problems are due to the acsual jailbreak procces. I would say it's because you have been using your iphone backup and restored it when you updated to 2.2.1, and then jailbroken. The thing with restore/backup data is that it is different in some cases from firmware version to an other firmware version, and that may lead to A LOT of crazy errors.
So, I would say give jailbreak a second chance, clean restore to 2.2.1, NO BACKUP DATA RESTORE. If you need any data like addressbook, sms, and all of that, go NOW to private/var/mobile, and copy whatever you need from there, and then put it MANUALLY back after you restore, cause otherwise you'll run into the same problems.

However, you can check out iPhoneFix.de V2oo9.2 - Largest iPhone related filebase on .NET! No.1 File Source! server and see what they've got.

Thanks for your point of view. But i have to clear something up. I did not do a backup restore before jailbreaking. What i did was to do a
1. clean restore to 2.2.1 using itunes(did not activate through itunes),
2. jailbreak, then
3. restore backup data.

FYI, when i checked the phone after step 2(jailbreak) the carrier already showed nullnull. This means that the issue already arised before i do a back up restore. Any ideas

You said to copy the data into the phone manually.
Do i do this before jailbreaking it or after jailbreaking it?

If it is after a clean restore, Iphone shows "slide for emergency", Itunes is asking for activation and so~

Currently i am using iphonebrowser on my pc to access the files on the iphone. I am not able to access the files on the iphone when the iphnoe is the state mentioned above (slide for emergency). IS there any way to access the iphone files to directly copy the data?

Continued~.. If somehow i am able to access the iphone files at the "slide for emergency" a.k.a activation state,

Is it then possible for me to only copy the activation lockdown files so that the iphone would be activated only?

Can someone provide me with the working activation lockdown files that i would need to owerite to activate the iphone?

dude, you wrote clearly that you restored backup data. this is what I am talking about! this thing is known to cause a h@ck of a lot of problems.
An other thing, you CAN'T access the iphones files and folders in any way UNLESS it is jailbroken. Yes, I know that is awkwards, but this is the way APple made it. SO, if your iphone is jailbroken now, go to private/var/mobil/library and copy everything you need so that you can put it back AFTER you do a clean restore to 2.2.1, NO RESTORE OF BACKUP DATA THROUGH ITUNES, Jailbreak.
Have you checked out the webpage I posted?
Also, lots of people think that jailbreak is causing them problems, but its acsually the difference in .plists between iphone os firmwares that makes things go completely NUTS! thats why I ALWAYS do my restoring of data manually!
Remember, unless jailbroken, you do NOT have access to the needed and important files!

i tried it again.

I did not do any back up restore this time round.

I just did a clean restore using itunes and then i ran quickpwn to jailbreak.

everything went fine but i still have the carrier showing as null null.

Any more ideas dude?

Carrier (null) (null) is normal if you are using a non official carrier, or if you are using a SIM adapter. It means that you do not have a Carrier Settings Update from iTunes. From Cydia, add the iphone-notes.de source, and try to find the Carrier Bundle from your operator. It will install the operator logo and APN settings.

Your problem may be the Turbosim, probably it does not work with 2.30.03 Baseband.

Also, restoring backup data from iTunes is safe, when I update my iphone I allways restore the backup without any issues. If you think that it is the problem, just setup it as new iPhone when you restore it.

I dont understand this

I do not want it to be jailbroken and i do not want it to be unlocked(not possible to unlock anyway).

do you want it jailbroken or not???

also, the null null option is normal on turbosims and such stuff.......
especially on unlegit carriers. try making a bundle for your carrier from this link

carrier bundle generator

I had to use this myself due to a freakin message that kept appearing whenever I dialed a number, telling me that call forwarding was enabled on my iphone.......................

Thanks for this tip.

I will try and create a carrier bundle for the carrier i intend to use and then plug in my carrier sim and the turbosim and see if detects the carrier or not.

THanks for the help and this looks promising.

I have tried 2 SIM hack cards on Softbank Japan's locked iPhone.
None works so far.

Where are you from?

Are you still in Japan and trying to use the iphone with another carrier in Japan?

I have tried using turbosim too and it does not work. it cannot pick up any signal from other networks. I think this is due to the phone network system in japan being only 3g.

What do you think?

Have you tried using the turbosim on a Japan iphone to detect a network in another country?

I am going back to my home country soon and would really like to know if i can use my phone there.

Thanks
