This is the low down on our tools for use with the 2.2.1 firmare from Apple, read the whole post in full before attempting anything.

1. GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone running 2.2 firmware and you want to keep your ability to use yellowns0w (or the option to use it in the future) do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool.
2. Yellowsn0w will NOT work with the baseband version (02.30.03) that is present in the recent 2.2.1 update - you will need to create a custom ipsw that will allow you to update safely without affecting the baseband.
3. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
4. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
5. At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the latest versions of PwnageTool and QuickPwn.
6. These apps are suitable for the recent 2.2.1 release.
7. The Yellowsn0w version has been updated to 0.9.7. Yellowsn0w is available from Cydia or Installer - this version allows compatibility with pwned 2.2.1 system (not baseband) - again - remember 0.9.7 yellowsn0w DOES NOT WORK WITH 2.2.1 (02.30.03) directly - you need to be running a ‘pwned’ version of 2.2.1 which doesn’t upgrade the baseband.
8. Users of OS X 10.5.6 will be unable to use DFU mode correctly, please see the note towards the end of this post to easily fix this issue.

How do i jailbreak my 2.2 otb with quickpwn?

Do i still run the above and load the 2.2 f/w (as opposed to 2.2.1)?

Im a tad unclear

2.1 3G iPhone O2 --> Quickpwn Jailbreak & yellowsn0w

If you have a 2.2 OTB phone the first use quickpwn2.2 so that the phone is activated/jailbroken on the 2.2 firmware.

Then create a custom 2.2.1 firmware "with the baseband update neutered", open itunes, Hold shift/alt, press restore, & select the custom firmware you made.

Just make sure you don't update to 2.2.1 with a std firmware image or you will not be able to run yellowsn0w.

How do you neuter the baseband in Windows? Is it somewhere along the quickpwn+2.2.1 firmware update? Thanks.

I left my iphone 3g connected to my computer, and I dont check that 2.2.1 was released, so I updated to 2.2.1, theres a way to unlock it? my iPhone is fro th US and im in Mexico, so, can I unlock it?

iPhone 3GS factory unlocked (3.1.2; Blackra1n, Cydia, OpenSSH, custom 3.0 ipcc file (no sig), tethering hack by Dev team, 32 GB)
iPhone 3G (3.0.1; Redsn0w 0.8, Cydia, OpenSSH) 16 GB

I have IPhone with 2.2.1 (5H11) with Modem Firmware 02.30.03. I'm on an authorised carrier - so not really to concerned about unlocking the phone.

Would I be correct in saying that first of I haven't got a 3G phone since it's 5H11 and there's no G in there?

Secondly could I use WinPwn 2.5 BETA to jailbreak the iPhone?

Finally when I try going through the process WinPwn 2.5 B says 'iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw' could not be found. When I bought the iPhone I didn't receive any bundled software. What do I need to do?

No all 2nd generation iphone are 3G ready units & the G in the firmware doesn't mean its 3G

Winpwn only works with 2.0/2.0.1/2.0.2 not (2.2.1) firmware.

For 2.2.1 firmware you need to use use quickpwn/pwnagetool

This is for the reason above its not supported
