I have the following questions:
1 I want to jailbreak my iphone 3g 2.2 using quickpwn, however after I selected the 3G option on the front screen, then the tool ask the location of the *.ipsw, then when I browse to my iphone, I cannot find it, How should I do ?

2 Is there any recommendation/guideline which is easy to follow for jailbreaking and unlocking?

3 Once the iphone is unlocked (which I assume in the jailbreak status), if I still want to update the firmware from itunes in the future, what should I do?

Hi santosow13!

observe, there is a difference between jailbreak and unlock!!
you need to unlock, if you want to use a simcard from an different provider

and before applying any tools, be sure to start with the correct firmware (fw) AND BASEBAND version, otherwise you could go into trouble. also find the CORRECT tutorial (there are some of them)

1)) you have to download the *.ipsw file to your pc or mac before starting a quickpwn (see iClarified tutorial!)

2)) for best guideline check this link:

(iClarified-Tutorials-iPhone), there is everything you need for jailbreak and unlock.

3)) if you unlock your phone (for an other simcard) and there is a fw update, you generally have to check if baseband is changed in the new fw, because in this case you would lose your unlock and you have to wait for new unlock tools.
before update, always check the advices in this excellent forum!

and I have a question for step 6, which is : do we need to have our iphone connected to the internet for doing this step ? Since at the moment my 3g iphone is under lock status, and cannot use the simcard in my area. (btw, my location is in Indonesia)

Hi Santosow13!

Yes! for this step you have to be connected to the internet, preferably via wifi (WLan)(usually faster downloadspeeds) or an other data connection from your provider (edge, gprs or umts).

its called QuickSn0w and it obviously works via pc. i did not try this myself but it seems, that some others did.
