Hey everybody,

I've been out of the scene for some time now and it's time to upgrade my 1st gen (2G) iphone to the latest firmware. My phone currently runs 1.4 - I never bothered to upgrade any higher than that, but 3.0 seems too good to pass.

Can somebody please tell me what would be the best and easiest way to go from 1.4 -> 3.0 on my 2G iphone? It needs to be unlocked but I can live without jailbreaking, at least for the time being.

I am basically in the same boat as you. I have an unlocked and jailbroken 2G iPhone running 1.1.3. I used ZiPhone to do that back around Feb 2008. I would like to upgrade to 3.0, with it unlocked and jailbroken. I use T-Mobile.

This afternoon I upgraded my 1.1.3 2G iPhone to 3.0, then unlocked and jailbroke it using RedSnOw. Just follow the directions here:

i just followed this procedure... but the iphone its still locked.. i tryed again using redsnow, and at the moment of entering DFU mode windows displays an error and the program is closed. the iphone stay in recovery mode, so i had to restore in itunes... at the moment its locked...

can someone suggest me what to do???

i just downloaded the redsnow 0.7.1 and it worked perfect.

just upgraded from 1.1.4 to 3.0 using redsnow..everything worked perfect except i cant get it to sync all my contacts, photos etc...btw im not using the computer i used to upgrade to 1.1.4 could that be the problem?

Use RedSnow 0.8.0 very stable
