yesterday i did the following:

- restored to 2.0.2
- quickpawnd
- shift-upgrade via itunes 8.2. to OS3.0

now i have an unlocked and activated 2G with 3.0. happy with that i am just waiting for the jailbreak application. youtube NOT yet working, but no big deal.

now i noticed that the modem firmware is 04.05.04_G

i thought there would be no modem/baseband upgrade. do i have to worry about anything now or is just anything fine?

There was no baseband upgrade, it's the same version as in 2.0.

you are correct, I had the same probem in that I did have baseband 04.04.05 but after update it changed to 04.05.04 which is no good for me. I believe the 04.04.05 is from v1.1.4 which when I updated to 2.2 I chose a custom firmward version to keep the 04.04.05 firmware so unfortunately at present I cannot update to OS3 as I cannot use the 04.05.04 firmware for my setup.

if anyone knows how to get into OS3 without the baseband changing to 04.05.04 and will leave me on 04.04.05 that would be great

do I need to do all that? I do not think so (I hope!)
I have a 2G already unlockd/jailbroken (I do not know how it was done, the guy used a PC) it runs perfectly well 2.2 with a SWISS prepaid SIM card by ORANGE. The baseband is 04.05.04_G - I have several official apps and some from CYDIA - It synch to a MAC with iTunes 8.2. I have already downloaded the new v.3 but I refrained from installig it until it is very clear how to proceed. My understanding is that 2G has no problems to update to 3, just click UPDATE. It will remain unlocked but no longer jailbroken and will loose all unofficial apps.
Is anybody there that knows for sure how to proceed? I mean someone that has done it "professionally" several times with 100% success. I hate to read that it was OK but this or that doesn't work anymore (YouTube). Thanks.
