Default iPhone 2G stuck at emergency screen after Quickpwn

Hey everybody,

I just came back from the states to Europe and wanted to unlock my iPhone 2G (first gen) so I could use it w/ my simcard over here, just like I did last summer.
My iPhone is on firmware 2.2.1 and the whole Quickpwn procedure went without any hickups. However, after I unlocked it, I inserted my other SIM-card and I was stuck on the emergency screen, telling me that I a different SIM-Card had been detected and I had to connect it to iTunes. I restored it completely and then upgraded it to 2.2.1 again and repeated the process with the same outcome. After that I restored and unlocked it again, this time with the new SIM already inside but the outcome still remained the same.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or what I could do to fix this? At first I thought the programm was inappropriate and I screwed up somehow but it says "Update or Restore your iPhone 2G with iTunes then run QuickPwn to do the magic, ‘nuff said, you don’t need to worry about anything." in the Dev-Team blog and iPhonehacks.com writes "The QuickPwn tool can be used to jailbreak and unlock 1st Gen iPhone" so I am really confused.

Thanks alot, I appreciate your help

I did the DFU restore to 2.2.1 and then ran quickpwn again but nothing changed. Cocnering the boot neuture: Yes it does run succesfully. The only thing that might cause it is, after I did the process and before I changed the SIM it said something among the line of "Awaiting Activation; this might take some time". I ignored this and exchanged the SIM but again the error message "different SIM detected, connect to iTunes".

Any other ideas please?

Sorry for the doublepost/bump.

Just tried it with iLiberty+ but it keeps claiming that it was unable to put the iphone in recovery mode while it clearly is, I have to DFU restore it after every attempt since iTunes makes me.

So no success with iLiberty+ and Quickpwn so far...

You cannot use iLiberty+ with firmware 2.2.1.
You must use quickpwn 2.2.5 (mac) or 2.2.5-2 (windows)
Do a DFU restore with firmware 2.2.1 and then use quickpwn.

Report back if you still have issue.

Thanks alot for your reply.

Just performed the DFU restore w/ firmware 2.2.1 and then performed quickpwn 2.2.5-2 (I use windows). Unfortunately the problem remains. As soon as I put in the new SIM I get stuck on the emergency screen w/ the message "Different SIM detected, please connect to iTunes".
What's funny though is that I can still receive calls and text w/o any problems, I just can't get to my homescreen or inside any app/programm.
I have a couple of questions concerning the restore/quickpwn process though:

- When the iPhone is done w/ the DFU restore, iTunes ask me wether or not I want to update network information on my iPhone, should I do this? (I tried it with and without, same outcome)

- Also after the DFU update, iTunes asks me how I want to configure the phone (as new or from backup). Which one should I choose? (I tried both so far w/o any difference in the outcome)

- When the DFU and quickpwn are done and the old SIM is still inside the phone, I get the message "Waiting for activation, this could take some time" on the screen. Could that have anything to do with the problem?

Also, just as a sidenote, I tried this process completely with both the old and the new SIM inside, nothing changed.
For clarification: After quickpwn bootneuter runs and does not appear to have any problems (at least I don't get a message or anything like that).

This is all I can think of right now. I really hope that you guys can help me. Thanks alot for that again, I really appreciate it.
