Default 3g Jailbreak getting stuck on Verifying Iphone Software. SOLVED

Hello, all.

I've followed several different guides to no avail. Everytime, I get stuck in iTunes with this message displaying:

"Verifying iPhone software" with a skinny bar continuously moving from left to right. I am using WinPwn 2.0.0.4. Starting with iPhone1,2_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw. I've tried downloading this from another source to make sure it wasn't a corrupt download.

I'm using iTunes 7.7.1.11. I've been setting the partition to 550MB. I've tried, Cydia & Installer and just Cydia. I've tried with the activate checked, and not checked. This will be used on AT&T network, but I don't think it's been activated yet.

Basically, after leaving it site on "verifying iphone software" for up to an hour with no change, I CTRL-ALT-DEL and close iTunes. When I try to turn iPhone on, it shows the picture with the USB cable. I verify it's in DFU mode when doing the restore.

Any help is appreciated!!!! BTW I'm running XP.

Over the past few hours, while waiting for a reply, I tried on a different machine. I was doing it on a laptop, so I tried my desktop (same specs). I got an error (13) on the desktop instead of the verification loop of death.

Should my SIM be in while doing this stuff. I've thusfar not had a SIM in it. I've tried Quickpwn too. I get further, but still hit a dead end. Any suggestions?

Emm
So when you use a custom ipsw to restore it hangs @ (Verifying iPhone software)? or does it do when you use a STD ipsw?

If it does on both I mite try uninstalling and reinstalling itunes on the laptop.

I didn't have the 13 error, but I did have the 6 error. I fixed mine by setting the partition size to 512MB. Maybe that will help you.

You also might not be in the right DFU mode (it must be a completely black screen when iTunes recognizes it).

I don't know if it made a difference, but I also had deleted all of the files in the "AppData\Apple Computer\iTunes\Device Support" directory on my computer.

I read it before posting. The answer isn't anywhere on the web that I've seen. Trust me, I've spent the past two days trying to 'break this thing. Until I figured it out last night.

Drumroll please......

You have to have a SIM card in it. I was doing it for a friend, and he had his simcard in his other phone. I did note in my first reply that I had been doing without. Put the SIM in, and it worked like a charm, first try. The verify waiting animation had 4 or 5 squares moving, instead of 1 skinny one. As soon as I saw it, my heart started beating fast.

SUCCESS! Thanks to anyone who offered help.

Mine does something similar now, but it stalls at "verifying" with a thick bar runnng across the screen. I can leave it all night like that and it never finishes verifying. The phone will only boot to recovery mode now. I've installed several images using winpwn, haven't had any problems before today. I tried to update it to the 2.0.2 using the regular restore option in itunes, that appears to be what broke it.

Default Real easy fix

You may have already figured it out, but if you're stuck on verifying go into preferences in itunes (disconnect your iphone) click on "devices" tab, then click "reset sync history" re-connect your phone and you're golden.
