Default Is it really this unstable?

*topic*
I see all these "HELP!!!" topics and it kinda worries me..Why are so many people having problems? are they inexperienced and just making small mistakes? or is program really this unstable? I've a little experience with installing portable device hacks (I was pretty up-to-date with the psp scene), do I have anything to worry about as long as I follow the instructions?

Well u spoke my words.. After reading that much of members facing problems and errors, was wondering for what to get the apple at first?
Don't get me wrong, i know the Apple is a perfect combination of software and hardware but yet look how much it is causing problems. I was really excited to get the 3G but reading how much can create errors made me think twice before getting it, indeed more as hesitating. Not even one constructive and positive feedback so far!

doesn't really seem unstable to me. I have unlocked 2 1st yen iPhones with no problems. Only problem I was having was the fact that I wasn't getting into dfu mode. Instead into recory mode. Which made everything so frustrating and completly pissing me off. But after I figured out how to get into dfu mode, everything went smoothly. I was able to transfer contacts, perform a restore, and sync with no problems. Only thing I did not like was the fact that cydia is the main installer. I am so used to installer. But other than that no problems whatsoever. I still need to pwn my iPhone 3G but waiting on the unlock, even though, my iPhone is legit from my service provided. Don't get fooled by the noobs.

EDIT

Just followed the guide and it went smoothly.

2.5 is gonna come out, i would just wait. im no noob but using iPlus and iLiberty on my 1st gen was so much easier

putting in dfu is rather tricky. i had a problem with it and then my usb screwed up at the sametime so I was stuck in recovery mode for 2 days until i had it rebooted at apple.

if ur gonna try it, watch and read all the tutorials first

Well, I've owned a 3g before. I know the phone's worth having, it's a really fun/handy device. I was more the pwning process that I was concerned with.

After reading N15SAN's and asma123's comments I think I'll just go for it. I've done many risky things with my psp for years and followed instructions pretty well (it never bricked). Thanks guys for the feedback. Sounds like it's more about following instructions and understanding than it actually being a buggy/unstable modding procedure.

Ok, I got my iphone and my conclusion is...It's not unstable at all I got my custom firmware installed no problem and dfu mode was a breeze just looked at my lil' vista clock for the 10 seconds. Thanks for the boost of confidence guys..:hack:..only thing i'm having trouble with is getting customizer's themes to show up
