I have by mistake installed and unlocked with WinPwn the 2.2 firmware on my 2G iphone. The phone works but not the EDGE as when i go to Settings->General->Network i only have the 3G option which of course does not do anything.

I am trying to avoid going back to an older firmware since I also had to fix a dead strip on my screen and installed a new General.plist to enable the Touch feature on the Settings. I also understand that 2.2 gives important upgrade on the applications which i would like to retain...

Is there a way to replace a file in Preferences.app (like for General.plist) to re-activate the ability to use EDGE on my iphone without going back to old firmware?

Any help greatly welcomed.

Let iTunes make a backup of you stuff then restore to 2.2 for iPhone1,1, restore your backup. You preferences will be within this backup iTunes made and you will not lose the modded general.plist.

If you could get your hands on an iPhone 2G with 2.2 firmware (2G version) then you could SSH some system files out and replece them on your iPhone via SSH.

But thats if your friend or someone has an iPhone 2G with 2.2 firmware...
