Default The iPhone "iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (23).

Anybody have any ideas how I can fix mu iphone? I got a message a week ago that I needed to restore my iphone. I shut it off and on to get rid of the message and finally did the restore. After the extraction processs in iTunes I get the following message.

The iPhone "iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (23).

I have tried using all the jailbreaker program out there with no luck.

QuickPWN
iLiberty+
ZiPhone

I need some serious help. My phone shows a usb cable and a disc on the screen. iTunes recognizes it. QuickPWN recognized it, did all its stuff then it returned to the USBDisk screen after reboot, no phone.

HELP......

Have you tried putting the unit in DFU and restore with a STD 2.2 apple firmware image or are you still running 1.1.4

Default itunes error, (1)

Hi.

I am using winpwn 2.0.0.4, first gen iph with 1.1.4
i am on rogers in canada, non plan, unofficial.

everything works perfect except the very end. with the phone in DFU mode, confirmed by itunes ver 8.0.2, the software extracts upon shift, restore with custom created ipsw, when extracting finishes, attempts next step then quits and says itunes encountered error with a (1). i have done everything to a tee. any suggestions miraculously accepted and appreciated. cheers mick

You have an (old) iPhone first generation, right?

Check here
iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your 2.x.x 2G iPhone Using QuickPwn (Windows)
how to update/activate/unlock with the actual tools. Winpwn 2.0.0.4 wont work with the actual firmware.

Default The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (5)

thank you Volkspost, but i did this to the letter following the iclarifeid tutorial and after the first step of installing the iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore in itunes using the shift and click of restore, i get The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (5).
this is odd as I cannot see these instructions being anymore simple than they are....appreciate any advice as always

regards, Mickey

Default error 23

i had the same problem this is what happend.
I had a perfect working 2g 2.2.1 but everytime i used bootneuter it freezed, so i check on a solution witch i found and the solution was to downgrade to 1.1.4 and erase or downgrade the baseband with kiphone witch i did.
after that i try to restore 2.2.1 or 2.2 but none worked error (23).
The only restore that worked was 1.1.4 with error 1105 something like that so i used ilibery to kick the phone out of restore mode,
than jailbreak and i was able to use bootneuter to flash my bootloader to 3.9 after that erase my baseband with ziphone again back to bootneuter changed my bootloader to 4.6 witch flashed with a stock baseband dfu again and restore to 2.2.1 everything whent fine and phone works perfect hope helps anyone.

Hey Mickey,
did you try to restore to Apple standard firmware 2.2.1 in iTunes first? This is the way I would try. The iPhone will be locked then.
You could then go for the iClarified instructions.

Let me know if this works for you

I went this similar path:
downgrade fw to 1.1.4
kicked out of recovery mode using ibrickr
J/A using ziphone v.3
then loaded bootneuter into /Applications

Here is the problem now:
Bootneuter is on springboard but when I start I get:
Error
This application must be run under UID 0.
Please check your installation.

What do I do now? I need a way to erase the baseband since it is messed up.

Thanks.
