Hi all,
I’m wondering if somebody can recognise my problem that I’m having with my 2g iphone and hopefully offer a solution! I had it working on 1.1.4 unlocked with anysim, foolishly upgraded to 2.0 when it came out first not realising what I was doing. I wasn’t aware of pwnage at the time (this is back in August) so I downgraded back to 1.1.4 and ran ziphone on it (my second mistake I ran ziphone on the 2.0 baseband). After I did this which obviously didn’t work the phone would “freeze” within a minute of starting up as soon as I installed any version of firmware from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4. If I used the touch screen it would freeze almost immediately. If I upgraded to 2.0 or later the phone would appear normally with the “connect to itunes” screen and the slide to make emergency call would work along with the keypad. I’ve since tried downgrading the baseband and tried to use various unlocking tools at 1.1.4 they never seem to complete. I’ve also tried Winpwn and quickpwn, they both seem to complete the flashing of the baseband successfully but it never seems to reboot properly. Sometimes the springboard would show up but would freeze with a white screen within a few minutes. A funny thing is if after running winpwn or quickpwn and reinstalling 2.x firmware I can make and receive calls while the connect to itunes screen shows up. If I try to activate the iphone at this stage the same problem appears. Any idea's? Thanks |

Why dont you DFU restore to Apple firmware 2.1 in iTunes 8 and use Quickpwn to jailbreak, activate and unlock your iPhone?

One more to add. After upgrading the first time to 2.0 the baseband got upgraded aswell. If you ever want to have the iPhone working at 1.1.4 you would have to downgrade the baseband aswell. Anyway, i cant see any reason to do so...

Hi,
I've tried that. After doing a DFU restore using 2.1 firmware, I've used quickpwn to activate, jailbreak and unlock the phone it will go through the process and will say its rebooting but doesn't seem to reboot properly. The screen goes black and does nothing else. I then have to hold down both buttons to shut down the iphone. If I try to restart it usually gets stuck on the apple logo but occasionally will load up the springboard. But will freeze with a white screen. |

I hope Ziphone did not screw up the iPhone ... If you want to give it a shot, DFu restore to Apple firmware 2.1 again, then use Quickpwn to just jailbreak and activate. report back if this is working for you.

Just in case everything is working for you (including WiFi and stuff) her are the next steps.
1. First goto Settings->General and set Auto-Lock to never --- REALLY important - if you dont do it you might risk a brick 2. Then make sure your iPhone is connected to power (ac or usb-pc) 3. Start Cydia on the iPhone, if it needs to update stuff, do it. Install Bootneuter then via Cydia. 4. Start Bootneuter 5. Leave setting for Bootloader as it is, set Neuter=ON, Fakeblank=OFF and Unlock=ON. A note aside: If you Bootloader got downgraded from 4.6 to 3.9FB earlier due to the use of an older unlock method like iLiberty, set the Bootloader to 4.6 and fakeblank to OFF here & Unlock and Neuter to ON. 6. Hit "Flash" in Bootneuter. Bootneuter will make you reboot the iPhone to unload CommCenter, just do it. After reboot, start Bootneuter again, select the setting mentioned in step 5 and hit flash 7. Bootneuter will do its job. DO NEVER interrupt the process, wait until it is finished. 8. When done reboot, the iPhone is unlocked now. 9. To delete Bootneuter now, start Cydia again, goto "Manage->Packages", select Bootneuter, hit "Modify", hit "Remove".

Unfortunately the same thing happened without the unlock option, got all the way to saying it was rebooting, the screen went black stayed like that and I had to use both buttons to shut down the phone.
When I restarted the apple logo stayed up for 4 minutes then the screen went white! Any other idea's? As long as it doesn't involve sacrificing a farm animal on an altar I'll try it!

Hi eltonj1,
What I've found out myself by trial and error is that my bootloader doesn't get upgraded even if I select the upgrade to 4.6 via pwnage. It'll load up the custom firmware without any errors and get to the bootneuter screen and report that my selected settings match current settings! So even if I select 4.6 and I know from other tools that I DO have 3.9_M3S2 running before the upgrade it "thinks" it has a 4.6 bootloader! So I've tried pretty much all the software solutions to this, I'm left with erasing my baseband and trying the a17 hardware solution to erase the bootloader. But I think at this stage it's looking likely that it's a hardware problem. Might put me out of my misery I've spent too long messing around with this! ![]() Might be worth your while eltonj1 trying pwnage and selecting different bootloaders to see if you have a similar problem? Be careful though don't brick the phone! Best of luck! |
