Default Iphone won't restore, error 1601, bricked?

Hello

Have an 2G iphone 16gb with 2.0.1. It suddenly went dead, suspect cydia is the cause of this. After a reboot the phone is stuck at the apple logo. Nothing happens after this.

Have tried to restore the phone i DFU mode, but the screen goes white and itunes times out with the 1601 error.
Now the apple logo won't come up anymore. The phone shows the "connect usb to itunes" picture and nothing happens when i plug the phone into a pc / mac in this state. The iphone shows up on the pc/mac in dfu mode, but i seems like the pc/mac looses the connection with the phone when the screen goes white.

I've tried this on 2 diffent computers and 1 ibook. Doesn't matter wich firmware i try, standard or custom.

Anyone seen this before? The phone seems bricked to me.
A solution would be appreciated

I would think that the "connect usb to itunes" picture means that the phone is in recovery mode?

I've used the cable that came with the phone + and older one that came with my Ipod Mini. No difference

Try reinstalling the latest version of iTunes 8 and down load a fresh/clean copy of 2.1 firmware.

Make sure you are in full DFU with the blank screen not the icons showing

Then Keep trying DFU restoring on the different PCs with a STD 2.1 firmware because if that doesn’t work you cannot fix this problem.

Im in full DFU with the blank screen.

you could try letting the phone die and try to restore it from the charging screen

Default try this

what i'd rather do is to uninstall your itunes completely and i mean delete the itunes folder in my documents as well

the install a fresh copy of itunes 7.5 and dfu restore to 1.1.4

i'm sure that should work...
