I'm stumped and need help

I have tried using itunes 7.7.x and 8.0
both return similar errors 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603 and (1)

I have a 2G iphone with 2.0 firmware via winpwn 2.5beta
that worked well

now i'm trying to put a 2.1 custom firmware Custom-iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw

the custom firmware was created with pwnagetool 2.1
then i use winXP with itunes 8.0 or 7.7 and but blocked with I try to restore the file

I go into DFU mode which I cna do easily, no prob there, it extracts prepares then it shorty reports 1600, or 1601 or 1602

i try uninstalling itunes and its mobile device support, reboot and try another version of itunes but same problem.

i try another PC, same thing.

I try putting it into DFU mode again, sometimes i get 1600 and other times i get 1602.


is it not possible to copy a pwnagetool 2.1 custom firmware, preped on a mac, simply copy it to a PC and shift click restore it via itunes...i've done this before but not with 2.1

can anyone clue me into the 1600,1601,1602,1603 errors?

i have done a search but its comes up short on answers, it find threads with dozens on pages...i need an easier method.

what else can i try if i dont have axs to a mac?
i have tried alternate cusotm 2.1 firmwares just to make sure and same problem.

I am having basically the same problems, my phone was Winpwned to 2.0.2, I then attmpted a restore to a custom 2.1 firmware. It turns up with a an error(6). I dunno what to do, I'll be lost without my phone /:

I am also definately in DFU mode, using iTunes 8.

My iPhone was also on the 2.0.2 software using winpwn 2.5.

I would have upgarded not restore thru iTunes to the new 2.1 software. Then use pawnage tool 2.1 to jailbreak the phone again and install cydia and installer apps.

My iPhone was pwned using winpwn 2.5 to the 2.0.0 software and then from there I just upgaded each time apple came out with new software 2.0.1 and then to 2.0.2.
And then when the new 2.1 software came out I checked to see if apple changed the modem firmware which they did not.
So I just went ahead and upgrade again thru iTunes to the new 2.1 software and the Iphone still remains UNLOCKED.
Don't really care about cydia and installer apps. I prefer Apple Apps.

ALL I can say is after a full day of using the new 2.1 software is AWSOME!
This is like the 1.1.4 software it fixed all the prior software updates.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa..... iPhone on 2.1 software still UNLOCKED.

and is Jailbroken with Blackra1n. Cool.....

Well i know that iTunes 8 currently is programmed to reject pwned .ispw files which could very well be what is giving you the errors, the dev team is currently working on patches for it.

Instead of using a mac pwned .ipsw file, there is a modifed version of QuickPwn for windows, that accepts and pwns firmware 2.1 so you dont even have to use itunes. I have personally tested it and it works great. Heres the link:

(just extract the files, make sure that you have 2.1 downloaded and on your iphone, and run the quickpwn app inside the folder)

Ok, so I am currently in the process of restoring my iPhone to the official FW.

Will report back when I have quickpwned.

*edit: It doesn't acctually work with the iPhone, having checked the files in the modified quickpwn folder, it wasn't intended to be used this way. Only the iPod has been prepard for 2.1.

caboboy702 - well this is true i could jsut update but i rely too much on my 3rd party apps. i use them for work and social so i really do need axs to cydia and must have openssh



FreeMyiPodTouch - great advice, u get rep point! i will try that out, i'm starting to think you maybe right. when i went to 2.02 i really did not have many 1600 errors or i could get round them easy but with 2.1 its a wall. so perhaps you are right in that itunes 8 wont allow 2.1, and if i try itunes 7.7 it can't understand a 2.1 so i think firmware 2.1 must use itunes 8.0

i've spent about 6 hours today trying to put 2.1 on my 2g fone but no luck.

it shows no support for 2.1 firmware???

If you go into the "Data" folder, then "PwnmetheusBundles", you will find a folder called "iPod1,1_2.1_5F137.bundle" with a .plist file inisde. As I said, there's support for the iPod, but nor for the iPhone

Not sure why it doesnt show support for firmware 2.1, I dont know too much about the program, i just know it worked for me and i thought i would let you know about it.

@ mulletinc, your right, i dont see the 2.1 firmware bundle for the iPhone inside the folder, just the iPod.

ok, i visited your blog and read it all.
i've not used quickpwn before but it seems similar to winpwn
i'm curious about the steps and what i need to do.
from what you said, it sounds like..i need to use itunes to restore 2.1 onto, using official ipsw

then use quickpwn to create a custom ipsw

then use itunes 8.0 to restore the custom file correct? wont i just get error 1600s again?

i have 2.0 custom pwn firmware on it now, can i just not quickpwn to create the custom file then use itunes.? this is where i have confusion
can ya give me a quick step by step so i get this right because either way, how do i get past the itunes 1600 errors?
