when i go make a phone call it throws me backout to springboard, it denys me access to dial pad or contacts.
unable to make phone calls

i have 2.0, also tried 2.02 and exact same problem.
after i restore 2.0 or 2.02, i tell itunes to setup as a new iphone. i do not restore any backup files, none.

i have tried this from 3 computers, using itunes 7.7.x with winpwn 2.5 beta 2

when i restore 2.0, then use cydia to download apps, then i ssh and upload my ringtones. i use cydia to add winterboard, appbackup, then download my appstore apps

everything works in the last case it all worked for 5 days
then i wake up today to try and make a call and it wont do it
i try rebooting, resynv to itunes, nothing

this is frustrating because i think this is the 5th time this has happened to me.
i can't figure it out, each time i setup my iphone as new, never restore from backup.

i've done this so many times yet i cant figure out why it works then a few days later, it randomly decides to fail and only way i can fix it to again restore.

try 2.1
pwn ur phone using winpwn and download a 2.1 custom ipsw from a torrent created by pwnage tool and restore
mayb a 2.1 upgrade will fix it

also have u tried to fix user permission in boss prefs????

great advice. i did not think of to look for a bit torrent custom file
yes i tried boss prrefs permissions fix, that made no differnce
what i dont understand is it worked fine
it worked fine yesterday, made zero changes and this morning i can't make any phone calls

i try to access contacts or phone and it crashes.

ok i download the 2.1 custom firmware, and i d/l 2 just in case

the problem now is when i try shift click restore i get 1600, 1601,1602 or 1603 and then another I've never seen error (1)

i try this with itunes 7.7x and 8.0
i have tried both version and both start the process, extracting, preparing, then bam, an itunes error

i try putting it back in DFU mode over and over but i get itunes errors, funny thing is they may vary sometimes is 1600 and other times its 1602

so i cant fix this fone app that crashes it wont let me dial any numbers or axs the contacts

and if i try to restore 2.1 i get itunes errors.

any ideas?

i would try to reinstall itunes then setup new phone

i've uninstalled and reinstalled many times
and tried 7.7x and 8.0 but same problem
i always setup as a new iphone, i never restore my backup
i dont even get to that part, i get error 1600s after it prepares, so it never is able to apply the whole firmware

is there a thread that documents the 1600 errors

IF U GET EROOR ON ITUNES 8.0
try restoring in DFU mode
if error in DFU mode then restore in normal (non DFU) mode

Also if u search the forum there are error 1600 threads

honest i could not find good answers when i searched for 1600, i got very scattered 1600 issues. when i read the search results it seems if you get 1600 it might mean ya not in DFU mode.

i thought i saw a post somewhere which i could not find from a search what each 1600 number means exactly and or why one gets it

for example..a 1603 means itunes and the firmware ya using are not compatible so try itunes 7.7 if ya using fw2.o, thats an example. thats all

if i do non DFU mode, that goes against the proper method dev team has stated to put a custom firmware

to put a custom fw ya suppose put it in DFU mode, always
the other option is recovery mode
and last method is simply to update

you can't update a custom fw on iphone on itunes, right?

i had a 1600 error when i upgraded to 2.1 while doing a DFU restore

so i exited DFU mode (hold power button and home button till restart) and did a normal restore (my phone was fully functional on 2.0)
since my phone was already pwned it worked

no problems till now
