So I used WinPwn's QuickPwn tool to jailbreak my 2.0.2 1st Gen iPhone (legit with AT&T), when I checked my free space in iTunes, I noticed that my Other section had increased to 500MB.. I thought to myself, no problem, this is probably reserved for apps and such when I install things using SSH, but as I put more things, I noticed that the Other section began to increase, now at almost 1GB (987MB).
Is there a problem here? Can I delete this 500MB excess data (if so, where would I find this?) or am I just out of luck? |

My other is currently @ 830mb and seems to increase every time I install a new Appstore app.
BossPrefs shows me at 320mb but everything seems to works ok so I haven't really look into this to much.

"Other" could be the things that were moved from the system partition to the media partition when Cydia was installed. Fonts, ringtones, applications (that's why it increases when you install another app), etc. And the applications from App Store, because iTunes doesn't say how much memory is used by them, so they're "other" too.

I’m surprised itunes 8 didn’t have a colored section for Applications like it does for music / videos / pictures / etc.
It would be consistent that way

Yeah, the Other section increases when I place more apps into it, I'm just wondering where the extra MB came from after jailbreaking the phone (and if it's discovered, if we can delete this safely).
I realize apps increase the Other section, but I don't think I really have ~987MB worth in applications (probably near 400). |
