I just bought a 3G iphone and it is running OS 2.2.1 - which I am currently using with a turbo sim to unlock (as I need to use a different sim / mobile provider).

What I would like to know is can I upgrade to OS 3.0 using pwnage tool - and which version of it would I need to use - I have version 3.1.3 and have downloaded this iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw file. Will it enable me to unlock the phone with ultrasnow or some other cydia package?

Any help would be appreciated as I just had to sell my previous iphone that was unlockable since 3.1 05.11.07 'upgrade' and I don't want to balls up this phone!!! Cheers.

(Oh and I would like os 3 because I would like to use iplayer and tvcatchup.com which do not seem to be suported under the older OS!)

Olethros. Thanks for the advice - I followed your link and succesfully JB'd and unlocked my phone. That was over a week ago and it seems to work fine, so just wanted to say thanks for steering me in the right direction.
