Default "no signal" issue after pawnage on 3.1.2

sometimes i get the "no signal" message instead of the carrier logo and this can only be solved after reboot or simply removing and inserting the simcard. it does NOT find the signal by itself while changing the location like it does if you loose network in buildings or tunnels.

i did not have this problem on 3.0.1 with same baseband.

i have used pwnagetool to update to 3.1.2 on my 3G

any ideas?

i think i found a solution in another forum which was linked from here. cant find the link again, but anyway, here is what i did:

taped the simcard with clear scotch on the backside to make it thicker. this seems to solve a problem with a loose connection of the pins to the card. since i did that 2 days ago i never had no signal again, which i had like 5 times a day before.

this would also explain why the no signal issue was temporarely solved by reinserting the sim card. but again, its just a guess but it works.

you can try to add severel layers of tape until you feel a "good fit" of the sim tray without making it hard to remove. BE CAREFULL! you dont want tape stuck inside your phone! if you are having a phone which is sometimes getting quite warm with usage it might be a good idea to check the tape once in a while so it won't get loose.

I can copy that. i am using several prepaid simcards when travelling. The one for Greece and the AT&T one needed to be "adjusted" as described here ;-)
