First time Jailbreak (O2 Contract UK)
I am about to attempt to jailbreak my iphone 3G for the first time. I did try some weeks ago but got stuck as I have a new macbook pro and think I got caught out with the DFU bug thing (please excuse my ignorance here).
I am a little worried about screwing my phone up (as most of us are) but have done some reading around the forum and I am ready to go for it...... I think. I don't want to try the DFU fix as knowing me I will screw that up and knacker my laptop too! I have my old mac lying around though (Powerbook G4) and am just updating it with the latest iTunes etc. So, finally to my question. If I do the jailbreak on my old mac using pawnage tool, will my phone work OK with the new mac when I plug it in? Will I loose any of the data on my phone (call lists, SMS lists). Will may current apps still work? Also, If the jailbreak is successful, do I still manage my iphone through itunes? Sorry for noob questions. BTW, my iphone has latest updates. (2.2.1 5H11, 02.30.03) Grateful for any help...

If you're going 2 create a custom IPSw firmware with pwnagetool & restore to jailbreak that will wipe your data out.
If you're currently running a 2.2.1 factory activated then you're better of using the latest Quickpwn. Ones you use the old mac to enter DFU & run Quickpwn then you can just switch back to using your new mac

Thanks for the advice. I don't want to loose anything.
Will try now with Quickpwn on the powerbook g4. fingers crossed. I really hope this doesn't mess up my phone !!
