Hi ggonxhi,
I'm having the same error after I jailbreaked my 3GS with blackra1n. I can't get rid of this error so I'm thinking about sending it back but I'm pretty worried about the fact that they could find out that my iPhone has been jailbreaked. Was your iPhone jailbreaked as well ? |

Hi samshack,
I had the same problem than you except that I did it with Blackra1n. I tried maybe 200 times to restore it without success ... I finally gave up and sent it to Apple. I don't know if I've been lucky that they didn't see it was jailbreaked or if it was really broken but they sent me back a new one. So try and try again and if it doesn't work, well you can try to send it, you'll have nothing to loose... |

let me introduce myself to the Error 9 Club....SOOOO Annoying. I was just making some new icons for a theme and uploaded a picture...hit a button and my phone shut off and rebooted and just got stuck on the pineapple.
Tried EVERYTHING...different USB plugs, rebooting PC, latest iTunes...nothing...last resort is trying my Mac at work but I trashed my Pwnage custom firmware...was hoping that would work. I'm thinking I may just sent to apple and take a chance...once they see that stupid pineapple, they're gonna know I jb'd it..lol. |

Ok,
Here we go .... At least it worked in my case ( 3GS 16Gb, OOTB 3.0, then upgraded to 3.0.1 ).... iTunes error 9 seems to be a tricky one, and wery hard to resolve, seems to me it has to to something with bad (or lack ) of communications between iTunes and iPhone (check your restore logs) due to corrupted drivers/USB protocols/Firmware mainly on Windows machines (in search for solutions I found two or three cases where this issue was resolved ONLY by restoring on Mac ). So what to do ? I did it this way.... after two days full of Restores (30+) 1) Patched host file ( CWindows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts ) by adding 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com as Apple Update Server in order to achive verifications of older IPSWs (3.0, 3.1, you can read more on that here: Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik) 2) Downloaded UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL 3.0 Firmware ( Google for it ). If you have baseband 05.11.07,you will need ORIGINAL UTOUCHED 3.1 3) Put iPhone in DFU Mode (maybe works also with Restore mode) 4) Restored with iTunes, 5) now I have 3.0/3.1 unactivated firmware, and WORKING iPhone ![]() 6) if you want use RedSnow to jailbreak ![]() 7) Upgrade / Restore to whatever you want ![]() That's it.... Hope it was helpfull, and above all usefull
