Ok so I have the custom IPSW file created on a Mac.
First I tried to do a DFU then shift restore thru windows it threw a fit.


How do I apply this customer 2.2.1 firmware created by a Mac thru a PC.
Somewhere I read put your phone in restore mode.
Other places I read.
Just hook up your phone then do a Shift restore and pick the custom IPSW file.

Which was is the right way. To apply a custom ipsw created on a Mac.

what's not to be happy about ?

firmware is firmware .
It does not matter you use mac or PC to restore the firmware to iphone.

iphone been pwned before, put phone in restore mode
iphone has not been pwned before, put phone in DFU mode.

Regardless, DFU should work in most cases.

what so special about the custom firmware ? The answer is:

1. it is "custom"
2. you can create the "custom" firmware 2.2.1 for iphone 3G - use it and NOT afraid of BB update.
