in my country there is no official carrier for IPhone

so I got it from outside the country ..

while doing the Sync thing ITunes asked for an updated and ... ops the IPhone is frozen on the ITunes & USB screen

I searched the net and lucky me found ur forum

got the pownage tool but at the end of the progress my mac couldn't identify the phone properly .. it identified it as an IPod !!!!!! and asked me to disconnect & reconnect

look around again and yeah it's related to the latest version of the Mac 10.5.6

i got the automator and this time ITunes identifies it as an IPhone and started the restoring .. but again an error occurs (error 1600) !!

so as u see as I go further my problem becomes more sophisticated and rare !!

what do I do now

by the way the screen now is black showing only the USB wire and the ITunes icon

when i press and hold sleep/wake button it switches of without showing the slider

what now

can u help me ? plzzzzz

This the pop-up that appears after the restore begins "The IPhone "IPhone" couldn't be restored, an unknown error occurred (21)"

What type of firmware are you using when you get this error?

STD 2.2 firmware or custom 2.2 firmware

btw ... I'm very new so don't know even what a firmware is .. would u briefly explain to me ?

and .. i get 2 errors either (21) or (1600)

coz i shift between DFU and recovery nd also I don't clearly know the difference btwn the 2

so the jail breaking process is not complete

I can't use the IPhone .. the only thing i can do is emergency calls

I just hope you haven't restored to 2.2.1 firmware in itunes because if you have you will not be able use it on an unofficial network carrier

unfortunately I did .. and upgraded the baseband to 2.30.03

so now I'll have to wait until the new release of yellowsnow to be able to make and receive calls

so now I have a device to browse the net with a camera
