Hey guys, newbe here w/some questions.

I bought an iphone (16gb blk) about 1 1/2 weeks ago and I jailbroke today (1/30/09) with w/2.2.1 straight from the box, so this was the first time the phone had been hacked since buying it.

I used the tutorial from iclarified.com and used pwnage tool 2.2.5 after I was done the phone was jailbroken on 2.2.1 but I was getting no service w/At&t SIM and this is before using yellows0w 0.9.7. I checked to see what BB was on the phone so I went to settings app and saw that the BB is 02.11.07. From what I have readi I guess .2.28.00 is required to unlock, but shouldnt I atleast be getting service w/my AT&T sim since I have not even attempted to unlock? How can I get to BB 02.28.00 in order to jailbreak? The unlock is for my sister who is T-Mobile so I have not tried that sim yet.

FW 2.2.1 = BB 02.30.03
FW 2.2 = BB 02.28.00
FW 2.1.0 = BB 02.11.07

Yeah, the phone was bought a couple of weeks ago and sorry if I made it sound this way but 2.2.1 was not on the phone stright out the box, what I meant was the phone was SOB, but I didnt open it until about an hour ago, then I dwld the latest FW 2.2.1 then used pwngage tool 2.2.5 The phone was jailbroken ok, but no service and when I went to settings it said 02.11.07. This was a brand new phone which was bought almost 2 weeks ago, so thats prolly the BB it came with and pwnage tool prolly did not touch the BB and left it as is? Could that be it?

That makes more sense to me

Read this and keep in mind that you need BB 02.28.00 to get Yellosn0w works

Is there any way to downgrade BB ? I just got my iphone today, and upgraded it, as I saw there was a new version yellowsn0w that could unlock the new version. I didn't know about baseband until now :-/

Did I just convert my iPhone 3G to an expensive iPod Touch, or can I do something to fix it?

If I fucked it up, can the local dealers unlock the phone even though I didn't buy it there. (Found it on ebay, was O2)

Did you upgrade to 2.2.1 via itunes 2.2.1? or did you use the modified version of 2.2.1 that your suppose to download via iclarified? if you upgraded via itunes you will have to wait for the dev team to come to the rescue.

im in a similar situation.

my phone was on 2.2.1 i just jail broke it using the pwnage 2.2.5 thinking that it would downgrade my bb.

it hasn't, ive still got BB 02.30.03

did i do something wrong? or have i miss read that it will downgrade to 02.28.00

just read joes post, mine was done 2.2.1 via itunes. will try the iclarifided version now

If you have BB 02.30.03 then for now until theirs an unlock available you can't do anything.

No guide will allow you to downgrade a 3G baseband
