Do you unlock with yellowsn0w? (FW 2.2.1 and BB 02.30)?

Yellowsn0w does not work with 2.2.1 firmware yet.

so can the current pwnage tool jailbreak the new 2.2.1 fw on a 3G phone or do we need an updated pwnage?

You need to wait for new version of pwnagetool/quickpwn.
fw 2.2.1 for both 2g & 3g are not recognized by those tools yet.

Do not be fooled by the pwnagetool version number of 2.2.1. The .1 minor was used a while back and unfortunately people are confusing it with the new apple fw.
