Hi, im buying the parts for a i7 machine which is going to be used for music production, was wondering if these parts will work and how i go about install osx, sorry im completely new to this but would appreciate any help.
CPU: Intel Nehalem i7 920 S1366 2.66GHz (Will be over clocked to 4gig when I get water cooling, would osx still work over clocked? sorry if its a stupid question, a friend is going to be over clocking it and helping me build it, I don't know that much about it) Motherboard: Either ASUS P6T SE - motherboard - ATX - iX58 or Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Memory: Kingston KHX14400D3T1K3 / 3GX HyperX T1 / 3GB / 1800MHz DDR3 DIMM / Triple Channel Kit HDD: 500GB Maxtor DiamondMax 23 SATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive GFX: Gainward GeForce GTX 260 GS DVD Burner: Optiarc (Sony/NEC) 20X DVD+/-RW IDE BLACK PSU: 700W MAUDIO Fast Track Pro Sound card I already have, I assume it should just work with the drivers on there site. Will this work? would I be able to get Snow Leopard work on it? Thanks again. This will be Dual Booted with Windows 7 |

Hi there,
I'm running a Hackint0sh on y Gigabyte P55M-UD3 with an i5 @ 2.66GhZ (overclocked to 3.5GHz) and a GTX 260 gfx card. It took a while setting all things up to work nearly perfect (iPhone doesnt get recognized by iTunes due to the overclocked Memory (1400MHz instead fo 1333MHz) why the hell ever). I can confirm, that a hackint0sh on the gigabyte board will run. But I recommend buying the i5 750 @ 2.66GHz and O/C it to 3.5GHz (believe me, it's enough for the next years) because it is a LOT of cheaper then the i7 @ 3.33Ghz! Also the Gigabyte MB might be the better choice because I read a lot about Gigabyte beeing the best MB for a hackint0sh, but no guarantee for that. If you have the problem, that your video is beeing played too fast and your whole system seems to be on crack, try this things: http://www.hackint0sh.org/f152/97776.htm Also the vanilla kernel in 10.6.2 seems to work without problems on i5/i7, but I haven't tested this because I need an external hd for doing some backups... |

I went for the gigabyte motherboard, the rest is the same apart from a 500gig Samsung f3 drive. Will have a look into those things! Thanks! |
