HI every body ther !!
actually i have a mac which has a OS 10.4.... and i was trying to update to snow leopard 10.6 but i could not make it possible at the end i tried to use "utility disk" to restore my system by having as source the sow leopard but it stopped after some time by error and my mac was stucked so i off its power and on it again but there is problem start it could not start and it ask me to restart again and again but it never opened what to do now , plz tell me because i dont want to loose my data on it. but now i tried to reinstall again the first OS (tiger) which i have buy with my mac but it stopped again on second cd because my mac has already have installed on it newer editions of Iweb,iwork and etc.so is there any way to fix my mac but i dont want to loose my data on it?

i am not sure what is wrong with your mac, but if you can start in the safe mode and check what is going on.
To start up in safe mode:

Shut down your computer and wait 10 seconds.

Press the power button.

Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key.

You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator (spinning gear).

Then I would back up my data for safe-keeping.
