I think that we have reached the point where we have absolute proof that Snow Leopard will not have PPC Compatibility when it comes to market.

There are also many applications that are now Intel-only, but I think that I have made my point.

that snow leopard would run on an PPC.

For my person, i can't support Apple to change to Intel-processors.
Apple has to fix all the Intel bugs, and there are a lot of bugs ...

Apple kill all PPC support. You can try install "Rosetta" support by Snow Leopard DVD, but I try here in a G4 and G5 machines and not work (for 10a222 and 10a286 build).

While Apple has indeed not said that Snow Leopard would work on PPC, they also didn't say that it would not, and initial versions were able to run on a PPC.

It's more that it was a topic that they avoided during WWDC08.

Not that it really bothers me, as I got rid of my last PPC about a year ago anyways.

Well most intresting I guess is if the server version will be able to run on PPC as many people still use old G5 servers and will get stuck with Leopard.

As much as I was impressed with PowerPC models (Let me state, I'm new to Apple Mac's - I've just been working with em for a few months now, as a technician), and to a degree - they seemed to perform better than the early intel ones, but maybe this is for the best?

I use a Powerbook G4 at work - and whilst it performs better than my PC, it also must be nearing the bottom of the System Requirements. The intel switchover was Jan - August 2006? We are talking about machines that are approaching 3 years old.

I see this more as a way of streamlining the Operating System, which may lead to some interesting new product line-ups! With devices such as AppleTV, and even iPhone OS being based on OS X - it makes sense to cut the legacy features out and "cut the bloat".

Additionally - if these machines are passed 3 years old; I can't see Apple keeping software for them anyway. After all - their all out of warranty now. (APP being 3 years)

Whilst we could argue that the intel switch was bad (Personally, as I say - I was impressed by some of the PPC machines I've come into contact with), theres no arguing that its done wonders for their business!

Perhaps an update to Rosetta with all the G5 specific instructions would be nice though?

PowerPC sucks for now, and I don't think IBM is going to make any good mainstream chips, a c2d or c2q preforms much better........
