hi all.. i m running a 1st gen iphone on 2.2.1 and i just installed through cydia the mobileinstall patch. as i read instructions u just then drag drop the apps in itunes..well, i did that and i see the app on springboard but it says "this application cannot be opened!!! what should i do?

you must install an free app over itunes on your iphone one time first.

Another option is to pay for the applications, I've heard they work fine that way
