ok so i have a iphone 3G , firmware 04.26.08 , version 3.0 os

i have not done any other jailbreak or unlock since the ultrasnow came out . it seems i need to update the iphone , but with so much info going around im not sure anymore how to proceed , can any one tell me what are the steps i should take to update my phone ? or should i even update ?

you should know i dont have my itune backup any more lost it pc crash . or direct me to some simple instruction pls .

also i would like to know should i get the new itune 9.0 or 9.1 i think , if i sync my iphone , will it update the baseband or chnage anything in my phone ?

i need to update because for the past month i get sms delayed and i dont get incoming calls they got directly to voice mail . pls help

But remember, GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G(S) with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service then you should only update your device with an .ipsw that is made with the new PwnageTool. There are no second chances with this. You need to remember that PwnageTool will provide an upgrade path to newer versions of the iPhone software in the future.

ok so if i understand this .
i can update itune to 9.0
i can sync my iphone 3G with the new itune9.0
it will NOT UPDATE MY FIRMWARE or WILL IT UPDATE MY FIRWARE AND LOCK MY IPHONE ?
