Hey I had my 3G replaced under warranty thru apple like 2 days ago but it came with 3.1.2 and BB 05.11.07. So basically its a paper weight until dev team comes up with something. I was going to try to jailbreak it to see if is was a refurb that may have 5.08 BL so I could fuzzyband the baseband down. The problem is that everytime I try to jail break it via custom firmware I cant restore it thru itunes. It just says the file is not compatible. I know for a fact that it is b/c its the one my buddy uses on his. I have tried 5-6 different firmware customs and also tried to jb thru quickpwn which said the file was incompatible or corrupted.

Did apple change something that makes itunes not recognize custom firmware? Any help would be great ty!

Are you doing a DFU restore? What's the name of the custom FW you are trying?

it was iPhone 1,2_3.1.2_7D11 Custom_Restore.IPSW, its the same one that my buddy unlocked his 3G with. When I got the replacement at the store it did take them a little bit to get it for me, If they updated it thru iTunes would it not work? And yes I was doing DFU restore. When im connected to itunes tho it does say it detects a phone in recovery mode, it that still correct?

you should try to jailbreak with blackra1n.then u can use cydia.jailbreak ur device with blackra1n
