Hi Girls and Guys,

So as the title suggests, im going to buy a water damaged iPhone from a friend (only a portion of the screen is responsive) for £100. and apple say they will fix it for £100.

So, £200 for a refurbed 3G. good value i think.

So my question is, when i send it back to apple, will they upgrade the firmware do you think? because its on 3.0 now.

Unless anybody can suggest a trusted repair centre in the UK who 'wont ask any questions' ha.

As i wish to unlock the phone and use it on my orange contract, and dont want the baseband updating with the 3.1.2 firmware (as i believe this prevents an unlock from any point of view)

I'm sure they will. Why wouldnt they take every oppertunity to plug the exploit.

Sure they will. But if you tell them not to upgrade just because your company has an application that only works with FW 3.0 (but not with 3.1), probably they won't do it.
