thats what i do now i did signed it but when i try to check it by typing cd /usr/libexec/ ./locationd just two lines appears that says "my firmware version running on apple baseband n82" :S

First of all . you guys really rock being able to get the GPS work in Egypt. Thank you.

Second, im not sure if someone will be able to tollerate my slow understanding as im very new to all this.

I did the step that were asked.
I have an iphone 3g vodafone locked.
I have FW 2.2 installed.
I jailbroke it uaing quickpwn.
I downloaded the patch and put it on the phone using diskaid.
All this is simple.

But now it is still not working,i checked a few threads and it says something about (premission)!!! anyway ...

I did install cydia and mobileterminal as melvrin said and i ran the command he wrote to check what line comes out and i got the one line saying prohibted 602 coutnry something. then i was unable to do anything further as it really got complicated

If anyone can tell me what am i doing wrong or guide me to how to work the GPS i would really appreciate this for real,

Guys , after bothering u with making u read the text I wrote below I realized once I went out side in the street the gps worked perfectly in the street ,I should have listened to mellevrin about trying it outside first,, really thanks again for all the effort, now we have a real fully functional iPhone like it's meant to be and not like what they called the iPhone in Egypt "crippled iPhone "well no more !!!! Cheeers all

Has anyone tried it with FW 2.1?

I am facing a problem. After copying the patch file to /usr/libexec/ and overwriting the original, I modified the permissions and signed the file using LDID. But, when I try "./locationd", however, I get a different message.
I get exactly this:

Did you use a 2.1 version of the patched locationd???

The one from the download source is for fw 2.2

I used the version announced on egyptianapple.com, and I think you might be right, that could very well be 2.2. Is there a 2.1 version of the patch, and if so, where can I get it from?
