That wasn't a joke,i said before that if you had nothing good to say,then better not say anything at all,at least i'm doing something which is better than nothing...

mate i laught because you say non sense.2G and 3G have not same hardware...

That IS what i was talking about,if we could somehow get the 2G firmware IN the 3G,then the problem would be over,it's not like you're gonna use the 2G firwamre permanently,it's just for 10 minutes or something till you unlock your iPhone,got the idea?

X, it is not only about the firmware, the unlock of the 3G is a combination of Hard and Soft. The 3G doesn't have inside the same component as the 2G. That's why you can't use this method..

Besides of what has been said before - the 2G Baseband is vulnerable and an exploit has been found by the Dev Team (not GeoHot, he cracked the 4.6 BL), hence we have an unlock to flash a part of the baseband and remove the carrier lock.

Running the 2G software on a 3G iPhone will result in nothing, probably the differences in some parts of the hardware will prevent from booting or at least that the OS can talk to the Baseband.

And, since the SGOLD and Baseband or different in the 3G, the exploit is simply not there - that is why we are all waiting for some progress (see the dev-team post today, that is HUGE progress compared to the steps in the past).

So from my understanding you will not be able to flash the 4.6 Bootloader to a 3G iPhone, simply because the Chipset will not accept/work with this firmware.

The 2G baseband software unlock was by devteam. geohot did the hardware unlock, and he did a version of the software unlock for those with 4.9 bootloader ("1.1.1 OTB") iPhones. And then the 2G software unlock for 2.x firmware was by devteam again.

(it's true though,not all are experts in here)but i really know my techs...
@Jondalar OMG while reconsidering(ofcourse after putting what you said in consideration) what i said earlier was kinda a total none-sense...

Sorry that i've wasted all your timeS guys,It might've just been because of greed or something that i rushed and put in a stupid analysis...I'll make sure to try my best and not do that in the future anymore.

But let's get back on target here the devteam have been really rollin it those last days...come to think of it,an unlock might not be too far away from now...

Well done so far.. just was wondering; what if Geo was still part of the team, don't you think some more progress could have took place?

And one more question, if using the percentage, if u wanna evaluate your progress for the unlock.. are u 60% close to it?
