Default macbook pro to panasonic tv

hello,

i have a macbook pro and am connecting it to my panasonic viera 37" tv thought the mini dv to HDMI, this works great as a second monitor, but if i try and make the tv my main screen then the dock and menu at the top are actually off the screen, ive tried messing with the resolution but it still doesn't work, im currently using the 1080p resolution, and even if i mirror the settings it doesn't work, any ideas would be excellent

thanks

Off the screen? As in you cannot get the dock and menu bar to move over? Or that you did and it doesn't display?

(Clarification would help.)

hey thanks for the reply
no like i can move it over, but its the resolution so its off screen as in it doesn't fit onto the screen, the picture is bigger than the tv, if you get me. ive tried all the different resolution settings as well, my guess is thats it something to do with the HDMI as my friend has his mac connected using vga and that fits on the screen perfectly. does anyone else have an there mac connected using HDMI?

no, i can get the menu bar and dock to move over fine, its just that when it is on the tv its off the screen, the dock and menu are on the tv, but they are off the bottom and top of the screen.
