Default Boot, partition leopard harddrive pirated dvd

Hello.
I tryed to partition my new mac i bought second hand without original cd's. Its a macbook with a fijutsu hd, dual layer dvd burner. The partition always fails, either i get the error message : verify failed or i get the error message: not enough space on hd (there is enough space.) then i saw somewhere that i should first verify the hd, which i did, and it said something is wrong. then i

1 burned leopard image on a dl 8GB dvd disk, which it refused to boot from when pressing c, but also when pressing option (alt) not giving any options but the hd.

2 tryed to repair my hd, thinking there is something wrong with it by using genious and other software. didnt work. it admitted something was wrong and mostly said that the rw etc was spellt lrw.

3 started up with cmd+s and entering fsck -fy in hopes that it would repair.

So dear folks, what should i do? by a usb-pen? use an external hd? buy an original os x from apple and boot from there, using disk utility ?

Thanks.

What program you used to burn the CD? Toast is not good. Use Disk Utility
What kind of Leopard image you have (.dmg, .toast, .cdr, .iso)?
Are you sure that the image is not damaged? Try to check the imege Checksum

you tried to partition boot HD on a working system? sometimes when the system is not "clean" (working for year or more) it not possible to partition it. The best way is to erase all hd, partition it and install new system. But before you must burn good bootable DVD and try to repair hd and check S.M.A.R.T. status
Even if you burn bootable DVD you must recheck it. Toast Titanium have good compare utility:

Mount disk image and select it as the original, then insert burned leopard DVD and select it as the copy and start checking.
If there will be no errors and DVD bootable then you can start reinstalling the system
I hope this guide will help you
Sorry for my English

They only way to do what I believe was attempted here was to boot the computer in "Target Disk Mode" and create an image with Disk Utility via firewire. This is something that is done in networks to create system images for similar hardware so if you loose a hard drive you can net boot the machine with a replacement drive and be able to have a restore image that puts back the setup for lets say Intel Mac with iMovie, iPhoto, and Open Office already installed.

Depending on the bundled software, you may be fine purchasing a Retail DVD of lastest OS available. If you have your dream Applications already installed (and not working), create a disk image when booting from Install DVD using Disk Utiility. Select the "From Folder" Option and save it as read only using no compression. If that actually takes, then delete the partition scheme you currently have and erase using the "Zero Out Data" security option to confirm hard drive has a chance.

OK Drive survives the overnight erasure then there are two ways to go:

1) restore the disk image from folder you made earlier and proceed with the installation option of "Archive and Install" that may give you a chance of making that dream Applications installed work.

OR

2) select "Erase and Install" (yes again) to have a clean OS installed and try your luck dragging and dropping things back in.

Either way repair disk permissions after the installation and if it came with 10.4 get to 10.5 for a time machine backup that puts a restore about 30 minutes away after formating the drive.

Or for the shotgun solution, call 1-800-APL-CARE and pay the minimal charge for a restore set of disks to begin anew
