I have a 30" Dell 3007WFP - should I buy a new 15" MBP?

I'm considering an upgrade from a 2006 MBP C2D to a new 15" MacBook Pro (MBP) with dual graphic cards (3.8GHz and 512MB VRAM). I have a Dell 30" monitor 3007WFP with DVI input that my current MBP drives easily.

My Questions:

I'm pretty sure I need the Dual-link DVI adapter (for mini-displayport), is that true or can I use the standard one?
I've heard about lots of problems with the dual-link (some had hoped fixed with a 1.02 firmware in the adaptor but it seems not). Does anyone know if the new MBP can successfully drive the 3007WFP without problems?
