Default What does no light bulb on a G5 iMac mean?

I tryed starting up my iMac G5 today, and there was no white light on it, and the screen was blank.....
I had to reset the ram for it to start properly........
so, does this mean that when there is no white light on, the ram needs to be reset?

Does this also mean that if the light comes on, the chimes comes on, the dvd drive checks, everything will be fine?
I have had this happen, even though, it froze at the grey apple sign with the progress bar undernieth...... it froze for good then....

Help!

is it a brand new iMac? If it is i would get onto Apple to see if you can get it replaced. You shouldn't need to reset ram etc, and if you are saying it is freezing thats not a good sign at all......

Your Mac won't start up in Mac OS X (Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier)

and you should probably try this first:

dude, did you read the post before you?
yes, the samsung whatever memory WAS bad, but the new infineon module fixed it.
your answer was very good, but it came after the problem was solved.
no problem, it's cool, but it would have been great if it would have arrived before, so I woul have gotten a good answer.
cheers

Are you referring to me or Jaybird?

If it's me, you must have problems understanding my post.

"hm... bad memory..." is my remark,
"see if you can get it returned" is my response and suggestion.

If the reply is at my prev. post I would say that I am not trying to "rediagnose" the problem but just telling you to get the bad memory, whichever company it is, returned.

(assuming that you have bought it recently, since noone would put up with bad memory for too long...)
