Default Help installing Leopard on First gen Intel Macbook..

Hey..

So, I have the first gen intel macbooks.
Powered by a Core Duo T2400 (1.83Ghz)..

I want to install Leopard on it, Im even willing to buy the original DVD... BUT..

The problem is, my laptop doesn't have the SuperDrive or even the Combo Drive. Its just a CD-RW Drive.

How can I install Leopard 10.5.x on it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Ad1tya.

If you got a friend with another Mac (Intel one), connect this one with your Macbook via Firewire cable (your Macbook beeing shut off). Start your Macbook holding the t key (on the macbook). It will boot then in Target mode and show up on the other Mac as an external FW HD. Start the installer then and select the Macbooks drive.
This should work.

Hey..

Nope, I dont have a friend with a Macbook. Infact, Ive almost resorted to buying a new Macbook. But I just dont have 1300$ to spare right now.

I read online that you could use a USB HDD to install it?

Btw, I have the latest version of Tiger on the Macbook, if thats of any help.

External DVD drives don't cost $1300, which is a good saving!

1st gen Intel MacBooks has a ComboDrive, just download a Mac OS X 10.5.x Restore DVD and put to install.

*If your MacBook doesn't haz a DVD Combo or SuperDrive, you doesn't haz a MacBoot, you haz a iBook.

Cheerz,

^^ It is a Macbook buddy. Also, I verified. Its a CD Drive and not a combo drive.

Model No. : A1181...

In About this Mac..

With my aspire one netbook, I use a DVD drive attached to a usb<->ide adapter. If you have a desktop computer with a dvd drive, then you just need the adapter itself, which is pretty cheap.
