Default Relock iPhone 2G

My unlocked iPhone 2G recently drains its battery very quickly and I have to charge in the middle of the day. The OS also operates very slowly. I'm wondering whether it's because the battery is old or because the unlock software should be upgraded. I want to take my iPhone to Apple Genius Bar, but I'm guessing I need to relock it so it's covered under warranty. Can I accomplish this easily using Pwnage? If not, what is a good method.

My specs:
iPhone 2G
Pwnage v3.0

Thanks.

Batter drain can solved by restoring with pwnagetool again. This fixes my
battery drain problem.

For relocking, just restore to an unmodified stock ipsw and youŽll
lose your pwned state and your phone ist locked.

Cool. I tried to update using Pwnage 3.1.2 but I'm encountering Error 1600 during restore. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...

have you tried the commonly recommended tips to fix battery life on 2G and jailbroken iphones?

1. Set up your iPhone as a new phone, do not restore from an iTunes backup
2. Enable then disable push notifications
download a free app that supports push (AP Mobile, bargainbin etc)
run the app, say yes to enable push notifications
go to settings -> notifications and turn this off again

I suspect these two things will fix your problem. I would especially recommend trying the push notifications item because it is quite quick to test.

To make a warranty claim, then your phone must have apple care for your iPhone because the 1 year warranty has to have expired for all 2G iPhones by now. When did you buy this phone?

To remove your unlock, you need to use boot neuter. be very careful with boot neuter as you can permanently brick your phone with it. Never restart your phone while boot neuter is re-flashing, even if it looks like boot neuter is taking a long time.

Once you have disabled unlock with boot neuter you can then restore to an original apple IPSW in DFU mode and you have a phone that shows no signs of jailbreak or unlock.

Another note.
prior to using bootneuter, make sure the autolock settings is set to never. That way the screen will not blank out on you causing you to panic.

Bootneuter is smart enough to shutdown commcenter before doing anything. It does not hurt to enable airplane mode on prior to running.

If I setup my iPhone as a new phone, is there a way for me to get back my SMS and Notes later on? I've already synced my iPhone with iTunes including media, contacts, etc. But then won't I lose those SMS and notes or other things? Is iPhone Backup Extractor good for this?

Thanks.

I've tried restoring with the latest Pwnage 3.1.4 today. I'm still getting error 1600.

My iPhone is now exactly 2 years old, and I believe I've charged it over the 400 charge lifespan. I think it's time for a new battery honestly.
