Congrats to the Dev Team for jailbreaking 3.1.

I noticed the blog posting has no mention of iTunes 9. Should I upgrade before or after restoring the custom ipsw? Or does it make no difference? Does iTunes 9 work ok with 3.01 or will it force an upgrade to 3.1 before you can use it?

You shold first upgrade yo iTunes 9, just because it is the only version that works with iPhones 3.1 FW.

I just updated my iPhone 2G to FM 3.1 via iTunes 9. Then I used the dev-teams new pwnage tool 3.1 and did the jailbreak/unlock with it. Works perfect on a 2G iPhone !!!!

Hey Guys I had already Pwned my 2G to 3.1 with Mac pwangetool 3.1 On my G5.... now I wanted to do it on my friends Iphone but when it starts building the CustomFirware it quits saying something like i sry i haz failed with a Red X through it..... that phone is on 3.0. has anybody else seen this...

oh forgot to say this system has iTunes 8.2

Upgraded iphone 2g to 3.1. I did not upgrade it first from 3.01 to 3.1 using itunes, I just followed the tutorial step by step and used the custom 3.1 firmware that was created and everything worked fine.

Duh it's not what i'm asking Like I said I know how do to it alright worked fine
the first time but now I want to do a refresh install but as it goes to build the CF it quits half way through... thats what I'm asking why does pawnagetool quit on me do I need to do something before I do another fresh install

Did it finally. Created a cust. firmware on a friend's mac (I don't like using firmware created by someone else) and restored in itunes. Everything went smoothly and so far 3.1 looks good (didn't try push). I'll report back battery life.
