So I've had my iPhone for I don't know how long.

It's been jailbroken for just as long so I didn't have to dole out money to AT&T for something I'd never use (EDGE).

I decided to patch up to 3.0.1 yesterday. Today I got this text message:



Hmm. Guess this hack didn't cover up the fact that I don't have a data plan! :\

I wonder what I can do now.

you do know if your iphone is connected to edge and you dont have a dataplan it will kick your bill up super high right??

i would start by disabling edge before it overprices your bill

I've had Edge off for forever .

I think they're finally taking action against all jail-breakers "dodging" AT&Ts ridiculous plan pricing by not subscribing to it.

That is kinda scammy by AT&T, iPhone requires nothing, not their data plan nor any special option lol. If you want to use it without their shit contract, I don't see anything they could do about it, other than send out such scam sms and make you afraid(tm).

Simply ignore it. If you have turned off Edge for real and you don't use it (I don't use EDGE or 3G either) you are best of simply ignoreing it or call them abck and tell them they suck lol.

Where can one turn off edge on a jailbroken phone,I am having trouble finding it???

my brother put his sim in my old cracked screen iphone 3g (both have at&t he just didn't have an iphone) and got the same text message. the reason they send you that message is because the iphone spends a lot of time talking back and forth with the cell tower for no apparent reason, and half a day of him having it turned on and not using the internet or anything incurred $50 worth of data sent/recieved.
