Default What to do with no DFU?

Is there anyway to jailbreak/unlock an iPhone that has a broken power button(meaning no way to get DFU)?

Yes. There's a program, that I don't recall the name, that was written just to put iPhones into DFU.

Google for it.

Download DFU Program
Extract the archive to the root of your hard drive, should be C:/DFU/
Connect your iPhone and ignore iTunes
Goto Start – run
Next type in “c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu
Wait for iPhone to show a “white” screen
Now you may proceed to downgrade!

*all these files are found in ibrickr’s directory except for the .dfu file

I don't get a response from the iPhone at all. It's a 2g at 3.0 firmware if that makes a difference.

dfu mode is when the phone is usually all blacked out so try to connect it to itunes and run a 3.0 firmware restore whether it be stock or custom.

FYI: I tried this method on a 3G iPhone running firmware 3.0 and it put the phone in recovery mode instead of DFU mode.

FYI:

One thing that I noticed after running the command line utility is that when the phone is off and I plug in the connected USB to either the power adapter or a computer, the phone goes into recovery mode! However, I turn it off and on again and it's back to normal. I'm not sure if this is due to the busted home button triggering the recovery mode or if the utility changed the phone settings to do this. I noticed it before the jailbreak so I tried an iTunes restore and the behavior still occurred. THEN I jailbroke (for the first time ever) and it still occurs. No big deal though since it goes away after rebooting.
