Hi guys, Im looking for some help. Im not new to this (look at my signature) but now I dont know what to do.

My iPhone 2g 4GB was unlocked with custom firmware 2.2.1 created with pwnage tool on a friends Mac. Now I tried updating to 3.0 (because I had big rpblems with restoring before) with a pwned 3.0 fw created with pwnage tool on a friends mac. Updating didt work (got error 1601) and now Im stuck into recovery mode. Tried this: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f127/53930.htm to get out but it didnt work. It reboots all the time and shows the cable. I can stop rebooting by pressing sleep and home for a while.

Ok, so I tried getting into dfu mode to restore with my custom 3.0. But I got 1601 again. Im pretty sure that im in DFU mode (did it like described in the mentioned thread. screen is black, itunes recognizes phone in recovery mode)

Some more information about my phone: I had huge problems getting into dfu mode and performing the restore since 2.0.1 (WinPwn). Sometimes i tried restoring 50 times and suddenly it worked. It took me a while to figuer out how it works for me. This is how it works in general: I put my phone into dfu mode, iTunes says looking for iPod (not iPhone) after a while it says recognized iPod but is unable to determin what version or something like that. After i restart iTunes it says found iPhone in recovery mode and I start restoring. After a while it says error 1601 but phone screen is white. Ok, I have to restart iTunes again and everything works fine.

At the moment its different. I dont get a white screen and I cannot get out of recovery mode. I can kick the phone out of dfu mode but it goes back to recovery mode.The only thing Im wondering about is that it goes out of dfu mode after about 5 seconds. The mentioned thread says it takes 30-60 seconds.

I really need some advice either for how to get aut of recovery or how to restore to 3.0

Is there anybody who can help? I forgot to mention that iTunes doesnt recognize the phone in recovery mode (phone shows cable)

I guess that pwnage has never worked properly because phone shows the apple logo while starting. I have read that the pinapple logo should appear.

Can you please put the iPhone into DFU mode and restore to Apple stock firmware, this should work.
While iPhone and Mac/PC are connected, shut down the iPhone (it's stuck in recovery, right?). Once shut down, put it into DFU (black screen and iTunes recognizing an iPhone (or iPod - sometimes happens) in recovery. Hit Restore then.
This should work. Once the Restore to 3.0 is done, you can grab and use the tools to jailbreak, activate, unlock.

Thanks man, the ways how to unlock are changin with every fw. sometimes you just dont see the easiest way how to unlock.

I did the unlock with redsnow and everything worked great

Looks like a mechanical failure take it to the store see if they can fix it, or get a replacement, hopefully you had apple care.
