Default Problem 3.0 - Battery Life

Hi

I just updated my 2G with 3.0 using Pwnage. After I did this I set up the phone as a new phone in iTunes and moved music and a few apps back over as well as setting up an Exchange link to be used over Wi-Fi. However next morning the battery was dead. Charged it up and within a couple of hours the battery died again.

I restored the 3.0 firmware this time using Pwnage 3.1, removing Cydia and Icy from the customised build and being more careful about what I put back on the phone. The battery is still not lasting as well as under 2.1 but it is better than before. I turned off Push under Exchange a couple of hours ago and it seems to be doing well now so maybe that is the culprit.

Has anyone else faced similar problems using 3.0 on a 2G? If I decide to go back to 2.1 or 2.2 do I need to downgrade to Pwange 2.25 or can I still use 3.1?

Many thanks

Unfortunately, I think EVERYONE is having this problem. Something is eating up the battery on 3.0 phones and it looks like only firmware 3.1 will solve it.

It's a really weird issue too. At first I thought it was MobileMe/Exchange's push. I turned it off, and for a day, it seemed fine. A couple of days later the battery was back to lasting 8 hours. I then disabled Push Notifications. The battery starts lasting a bit more but after a few recharges, its back to 8 hours. Now I uninstalled the MMS2G fix. It seemed like that did the trick for the past 2 days but today it lasted 7 hours and I didn't even touch the phone

its the push notification service!!!
remove the file /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.apsd.plist

and your phone will run even longer than on 2.x...
