Default Could not activate cellular data network : You are not subscribed to a cellular data

Hi guys

I've upgraded to 3.0 using pwnage on mac, and now the internet no longer works.

I get :

Could not activate cellular data network : You are not subscribed to a cellular data service

Can anyone tell me what I need to do ?

I've tried doing the forget network settings, and rebooting - no joy.

aha, I think thats the problem.

Thats the settings for an iphone contract, which I dont have.

it should have been mobile.o2.co.uk, not idata.o2.co.uk

I had this problem too. The 3.0 update wiped out my apn settings for my iPhone. To fix it, either:

1.) Go to Cydia, search for APN Editing, and install. It will put an Cellular Data Network option into Settings>General>Network. From there you can input the APN settings manually. For me, I'm on AT&T so my settings were APN: wap.cingular, Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, Password: CINGULAR1. Restart and it worked for me.

2.) Go to unlockit.co.nz and choose your carrier. It will install a profile that changes your APN setting to your carrier.

Hope it helps.

Will it with this method also be possible to get a data connection with the 3gs and and an at&t pay as you go data package? I used to use the 2G with at&t pay as you go data package and get egde but the 3gs does not even let me go on edge with the same sim..?

regards,
Max

Default AT&T trying to lock out Rogue iPhones

This appears to be AT&T up to something.....
See this thread
[iPhone] Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed... - Topic Powered by Eve For Enterprise

Essentially they have done something centrally that is detecting iPhone's (based on the IMEI number I believe) and then with this blocks you from access.

I've had 4 calls with tech support of folks who clearly have little or no clue as to what is going on. I'd bet they are working their network to identify rogue iPhones adn force them onto an "iPhone plan". THis will no doubt cost more and lock you in to 2 a 2 year contract.

I have x2 iPhones - the original 2G which has the problem and a 3G. This also has the problem with a SIM not on an AT&T iPhone plan. The SIM that is on an iPhone plan works fine in both phones (personal testing).
There are solutions including the APN edit mention above and the unlockit site - yet to try as I am not near a Wireless point but I will
