Default [2G iPhone] Update to 3.0 (+JB) without power button

Hi,

I searched the forum but did not find an answer to that question: Is it possible to update my good ol' Iphone 2g (2.2, already Pwned with quickpwn), which has a broken power button, to the latest firmware release without loosing the jailbreak? The problem is that I neither can enter dfu mode nor restore mode (or is there a possibility without using the power button), but I've read that updating it via Itunes using a pwn build can work. But if it does not work, I am stuck with a bricked IPhone...

So does anyone successfully updated his Iphone 2g to 3.0 without using the power button?

Thanks in advance,
tobin

ya i did. create a custom restore ipsw with pwngetool. then click 'alt - restore' in itunes and select the custom ipsw file. it does all the powering, on and off, itself. worked on my 2g iphone from 2.2.1 to 3.0 today. i dunno if its unlocked tho since my sim contract is expired. (says no service - just like it did before the update.) gl

Yeah, it worked .
I used pwnage to create an image. Got into restore mode by pressing the Home button while connecting to usb. Then I just restored the custom image, works like a charme. The Iphone is activated and unlocked.
