i had the same problem harald1971 had but i cant find a solution

My solution will work for both you and Harald1971- try it- my previous post has the solution as an overview. If you need more detailed instruction, here ya go. By the way- you DO need another Mac to accomplish this, but it will work, so it's worth the hassle of using a friends computer, if you don't have another one handy.

1. Boot your computer into target disk mode. To do that, connect your troubled computer to another Mac via Firewire, and hold down the "T" key on the troubled Mac as you power it up.
2. Sign up for a developer account at Apple. It's free, just go here and use your iTunes ID and p/w, and download the latest file from this page. It's the first one at the top (as of this writing)- build 9G55.
3. Download Pacifist, here.
4. Install Pacifist, and open the package you downloaded from Apple. Inside the package, you'll see a folder labeled "System". Highlight it, and go to
   File->Install Files To Other Disk (the other disk being YOURS, the one in Target Disk Mode. It may be called something like "Macintosh HD-1").
5. After Pacifist is finished, eject your connected computer's hard drive using the Finder, turn it off, then restart it in Safe Mode. To get to Safe Mode, hold down the shift key as you turn on the power button, and let go when you see the spinning wheel.
6. Breathe. Your keyboard and mouse now work, although they may only work in Safe Mode.
7. Download the Combo Update 10.5.6 from Apple [UTL="http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_6_Combo_Update"]here[/URL], and then install it. After it does it's thing, you'll have full control of your keyboard and mouse again. No need to use Safe Mode anymore. Woot!

i apretiate your help man thx alot, i've done another way coz i dont have another mac or a friend's so i used my bootcamp xp and putten the backup to the right place then entered the safe mode to login where keyboard and mouse worked then i installed the comboupd10.5.6 and restarted and its ok, thx again man for your help without it i wouldent have thought about it

so the ONLY way for a USB HUB to work is with the one with its own power supply??

can anyone else verify this before i go out and buy one. i guess i don't understand why a USB HUB even works for 10.5.6 and late 2008 MB given the internal USB driver has been changed by apple. is this because the USB HUB with power supply uses its own USB driver?

do you or anyone have an idea when the dev team may come out with a fix for 10.5.6 (or for late 2008 MB) to resolve the DFU issue?

does almost the same the aotomator app does. My bet would be on 10.5.7; should be out soon and may not have the dfu bug ;-)

Hey..i made a mistake installing the automator..
Now my AppleUSBHub.kext and IOUSBCompositeDriver is corrupted..
I luckily have a partition on my MB Unibody as Windows XP..
I have MacDrive installed so i can access my MB Hard drive easily.
Can anyone post a AppleUSBHub.kext and IOUSBCompositeDriver from their MB Unibody?
I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.6..

All i need is the replace the files right?

Okay.
I have a Macbook 10.5.6 unibody.
I want to jailbreak my upgraded 2.2 iphone, but realized I cant do this without DFU, which I already concluded my computer doesn't have.
I'm very new to the mac world, but i thought i might give this a try, however I know I've already screwed up after reading this thread.

Here's what I've done:
Ran this program initially not through my desktop (i know..i know..)
There were no other prompts or a reboot.
And I now have a backup folder thats showing on my desktop as 10.5.6 as well as the downloaded 10_5_5 folder.

To "undo" everything I tried to Download the combo and install it, but it wont let me save it on the hard drive ( dont know what that means).

What I need help with:
I just really need to know what to do from here.
After reading the horror stories about everything freezing up, I am scared to manually reboot to see what happens.

My question:
What do I do from here?
How do i "undo" everything the program did so i can start fresh?
Another question, is it important to have the zip file on the desktop too? Because when it downloads, it automatically takes it out of the zip and makes it a normal folder.

Can you still use the keyboard and trackpad? If so, whats the problem?

To revert it if you can use Trackpad and mouse: Make sure to have the folder containing the Automator app on the Desktop. It contains the app and two other files. Then locate the (generated) folder and open it. it contains two files. Copy those two over into the folder containing the Automator app. This will replace two files in there.
Run the Automator app then (read post #1 before). this will replace the kext files from 10.5.6 and after a reboot you are back to where you started from.
Your Mac's setting are making zip files automatically unzipped, dont worry about this one.

thanks for the help V, but now Im confused on what should be happening.
I replaced the files, ran the program, hit okay at the readme file, it closed all my programs and then nothing else happened.
Do i manually restart my computer now to get everything back to normal?
